Why would I need SMA? I already have insurance.
Insurance covers most of the costs of the care you need, when you need it. However, did you know that insurance comes with co-pays and deductibles?
Emergency room co-pays average between $50–$150. Add about 30% of the bill, which averages about $1,200/visit. Even one ER visit with insurance is more expensive than a year’s subscription to SMA. By the way, SMA will very likely save you multiple ER visits over the course of a year.
Before receiving any insurance benefit, patients on average pay a $1,500 deductible. The year’s deductible alone is 2.5 times the cost of a year’s subscription to SMA.
Can I use SMA instead of insurance?
We wouldn’t recommend it, but we will note that SMA will provide you with the information you need to help avoid the time and costs wasted with unnecessary ER and other healthcare visits. SMA is best viewed as a supplement to the care provided by your physicians that Works inside of the costs you’re already paying to save you additional money and empower you with better knowledge about your health in general and your specific medical circumstances.
What’s the cost?
Monthly costs are below. When you purchase a full year’s subscription, you receive an additional month FREE! Additional plans are available for businesses and non-proñt organizations.

SMA does not prescribe medication, because SMA is a medical advice service, not a medical practice. SMA consultants may advise you on medications and important follow-ups, but you will need to obtain prescriptions from your physician.
Will I be able to find a doctor through this service?
What if I’m not satisfied with the advice I receive?
If your SMA consultant is unclear in addressing your health concern or does not answer your questions adequately, you can talk to another consultant free of charge. At the end of each chat session, we ask you to rate the interaction to let us know how we’re doing. We love your feedback.
Are there limits to how often I can use the site?
